Motor Press Guild President James Bell Accepts Post With General Motors - Laura Burstein Named New MPG President
LOS ANGELES, July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Motor Press Guild, the largest automotive media association in North America, extends its congratulations to James Bell in his new role as Head of Consumer Affairs for General Motors Company and welcomes Vice President Laura Burstein as the new MPG president effective July 1.
The Motor Press Guild is a not-for-profit organization whose bylaws stipulate the offices of president and vice president must be filled by "Full Journalist" members. Bell's new position changes his membership status with MPG from journalist to public relations professional. As such, Burstein will assume the MPG presidency for the remainder of 2011. Bell will continue to serve as a member of MPG's Board of Directors.
"We wholeheartedly congratulate James Bell on his new position and appreciate the contributions he made to the Motor Press Guild as president," Burstein said. "I look forward to working with our board and staff members to ensure MPG remains a standard of excellence for its members and the greater automotive community."
In a letter to MPG membership, Bell wrote, "It has been a sincere pleasure to serve you the last 18 months, and I hope that your MPG experience has been as rewarding as my own. Rest assured that Laura has been the most amazing VP that a president could ever wish for and therefore we will have zero downtime during this transition."
