Motivators Inc. Contributes Over 200 Pounds of Food to Island Harvest
For a fifth consecutive year, employees at Long Island-based Motivators Inc. donated food to local organization Island Harvest.
WESTBURY, N.Y., Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, leading promotional products distributor Motivators Inc. wrapped up its fifth annual food drive. The food collected will be donated to Island Harvest, Long Island's most prominent hunger-relief organization, and distributed to families in need this holiday season.
Motivators employees were thrilled to come together to help the estimated 283,700 low-income individuals in the Long Island area. And as added incentive, each department competed to see which could gather the most food. All in all, 240 pounds of food -- which consisted of everything from pasta and soup to cake mix and hot cocoa -- was contributed.
"The amount of food our staff pulled together to benefit the less fortunate is unbelievable," said Motivators CEO Ken Laffer, MAS, MASI. "Motivators' participation in the Island Harvest food drive is a tradition we're extremely proud of, and we're happy to be able to make a difference, especially during the holidays."
Island Harvest serves as a bridge between those who have extra food and those who don't have enough. Since 1992, it's collected surplus food from more than 800 local restaurants, farms, and other food-oriented businesses to be distributed to local food pantries, soup kitchens and more.
Motivators contributes to other important causes, as well. The Long Island-based promotional products distributor takes part in Winthrop-University Hospital's "Extend the Holidays" toy drive, several eco-initiatives, and the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
