Mother Sues Conroe Daycare for Inciting Violence on the Playground
Attorney Greg Fibich of Fibich, Leebron, Copeland, Briggs & Josephson is representing a Texas mother in a lawsuit against a Houston-area daycare center accused of inciting violence among young children.
HOUSTON, Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The mother of a four-year-old boy has filed a lawsuit against Children's Universe of Lake Conroe, a Houston-area daycare center, over allegations that teachers incited violence among children on the playground. She is being represented by Attorney Greg Fibich of Fibich, Leebron, Copeland, Briggs & Josephson, a leading personal injury firm in Houston.
The mother's suspicions that something was amiss at her son's daycare center began when he started coming home with mysterious injuries. Her requests to speak with staff about her concerns were never honored, and her questions remained unanswered until she received a phone call from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. They informed her that a video had surfaced on social media showing her son in a fight with another boy.
The video clearly showed the two boys kicking and hitting each other. In the background, teachers could be heard egging them on and encouraging them to "get up and fight."
After learning of this disturbing video, the mother contacted the police and filed a lawsuit against the daycare. Attorney Fibich is currently helping the mother pursue justice by holding the daycare responsible for its "sick" and "sadistic" actions. "It is shocking that this could happen," says Fibich, especially to such young victims. "These little boys are four years old... they're babies," said the distraught mother.
So far, staff members at the daycare are pleading not guilty to criminal charges. The director has maintained that the incident had been previously reported and resolved, and that the teacher they believed was responsible for shooting the video had already been terminated for "unrelated reasons." That teacher, however, has stepped forward claiming that she had nothing to do with filming the video, saying that she only leaked it online as a way to get even with her boss for what she believed was a wrongful termination. "I'm the whistleblower," she says.
The story has received significant media coverage on local Houston news outlets, including KTRK-ABC 13, KIAH- Newsfix CW 39, KHOU-CBS 11, KPRC-NBC 2, the Houston Chronicle, and the Conroe Courier.
