Mortenson to Make History with MidAmerican Energy
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mortenson Construction is excited to continue its relationship with MidAmerican Energy Company by building its 13th wind farm for the utility. MidAmerican Energy has selected Mortenson to construct the 170-MW Beaver Creek wind farm in Iowa. The Beaver Creek wind farm is part of MidAmerican Energy's Wind XI expansion that will add 2,000 megawatts of wind generation capacity in the state.
Mortenson, a leading renewable energy contractor who has built 55% of all the wind power in Iowa, will now be a part of the largest economic development investment in the state's history.
"We are pleased to be part of Iowa's leadership in wind energy. It was in Iowa where we entered the wind energy market in 1995 by erecting our first turbine near Adair," commented Tim Maag, vice president and general manager of Mortenson's Wind Energy Group.
The Beaver Creek wind farm is being constructed across Greene and Boone counties near the town of Grand Junction, Iowa, and will consist of 85 turbines. Vestas will provide the V110 turbines that are scheduled for delivery this month and are expected to be in-service December 2017.
The Beaver Creek wind farm is expected to create 150 temporary construction jobs.
