DENVER, Nov. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Morris Animal Foundation wants to give animals more through its end-of-year giving campaign – more moments, more memories and more years. The two-month campaign, which ends December 31, will enable the Foundation to fund groundbreaking scientific research to give animals everywhere longer, healthier lives.
"Those of us at Morris Animal Foundation know that pets are a part of the family and there's nothing we wouldn't do to have more time with our loved ones," said Tiffany Grunert, President & CEO of Morris Animal Foundation. "It comes down to more time and better health which is why, this season, we're asking for the public's support."
Through the end of the campaign, gifts can even go twice as far, thanks to a group of generous donors, who are matching all gifts, up to $100,000. The Foundation has several ways to support the campaign besides direct contributions, including holiday cards. As Morris Animal Foundation is committed to funding the best scientific research, more than 95 percent of all donations directly support its programs.
Morris Animal Foundation is a global leader in supporting studies to find solutions for serious health threats to animals. Since its founding in 1948, it has invested more than $126 million in over 2,600 studies that have improved the health and quality of life for dogs, cats, horses and wildlife around the world. Just a few examples of its work include:
- Supporting key research to develop the first vaccine for feline leukemia virus, an important cause of cancer and other diseases in cats
- Contributing to early research that helped develop a vaccine for canine parvovirus, a disease that grew to pandemic proportions in the 1970s
- Improving diagnostic testing for Potomac horse fever, which saved the lives of countless horses
- Establishing Rwanda's Volcanoes Veterinary Clinic, which developed a health management plan for endangered mountain gorillas and helped triple their population
During the campaign, Morris Animal Foundation also will share stories of donors who lost their companion animals too soon and reveal why they support the Foundation.
