Morningstar Waste Services Acquired by Liberty Waste Services as M&A Activity Soars in South Carolina

ROCK HILL, S.C., Oct. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The M&A market in South Carolina continues to see an uptick in activity as Rock Hill-based waste management company, Morningstar Waste Services, was acquired by Liberty Waste Services in mid-September. The transaction was facilitated by Viking Mergers & Acquisitions, a M&A firm that has been serving middle market business owners in the Carolinas for over 20 years. Morningstar Waste Services is a family-owned business that was founded in 1994 with the purpose of providing Rock Hill residents with waste management and garbage pickup services.

The seller, Brian Brown, made the decision that after 12 years of managing the business, it was time to pursue new endeavors. That offer came from Liberty Waste Services, a waste management company that serves York and Lancaster counties in South Carolina. As part of a growth plan and effort to increase market share, Liberty Waste Services was looking to acquire a successful waste management business within their territory.
