TALLAHASSEE, Fla., July 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumer protection firm Morgan & Morgan is thrilled to announce that it has partnered with famed civil rights attorney Ben Crump to launch Ben Crump Law PLLC.
Mr. Crump is best known for representing the families of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Corey Jones, and Tamir Rice—African-American men and boys who were tragically gunned down in high-profile incidents that fostered the Black Lives Matter movement.
"Crump speaks truth to power and gives hope to the hopeless," said John Morgan, founder of Morgan & Morgan. "He is today's seminal civil rights lawyer. The go-to guy. A modern-day Johnny Cochran."
Mr. Crump's new firm will have offices in Washington, D.C.; Los Angeles; and Tallahassee, where he is based half the year. Its practice areas will include civil rights, personal injury, workers' compensation, medical malpractice, mesothelioma, class actions, and mass torts.
Ben Crump Law has also launched a new website, BenCrump.com, where prospective clients can read about various practice areas and receive free case evaluations. The site's motto is "Justice Equals Respect," a line spoken by Mr. Crump's hero, Thurgood Marshall.
With Morgan & Morgan's prodigious resources at his disposal—the firm has 350 attorneys and a support staff of 1,500—Mr. Crump will add a tremendous amount of muscle and flexibility to his pursuit of justice for all Americans. He will now take on cases nationwide, and his new team boasts a 24-hour response time for potential clients.
"Like Morgan & Morgan, I have always fought for the people, not the powerful," Mr. Crump said. "This affiliation allows me to pursue justice on a much greater scale for people who have been disenfranchised for far too long."
For his tireless advocacy on behalf of the marginalized, Mr. Crump has received dozens of accolades, including a 2016 Freedom Award, the National Urban League's Whitney Young Award, the Eleanor Roosevelt Medallion of Honor, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference's Martin Luther King Servant Leader Award, and the NAACP's Thurgood Marshall Award.
He was also named one of The National Trial Lawyers' Top 100 Lawyers and Ebony magazine's 100 Most Influential African-Americans.
Mr. Crump, who is just 47, has broken barriers throughout his career, serving as the first black President of the Federal Bar Association for the Northern District of Florida and as the first black Chairman of the Florida State University College of Law Board of Directors.
He has written extensively on criminal justice for TIME magazine and has appeared in several documentaries. Next year, TV One will air a new documentary series about wrongly convicted individuals, "Evidence of Innocence," which Mr. Crump will host.
In announcing the series this past April, TV One President Brad Siegel said, "Attorney Benjamin Crump is on the front lines of the fight for civil and racial equality in this country."
With Morgan & Morgan now at his disposal, Mr. Crump will become even more powerful and effective in the battle to make America great for all Americans.
