Morgan & Morgan is Investigating United Continental Holdings, Inc. - UAL
NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Morgan & Morgan is currently investigating whether certain officers and directors of United Continental Holdings, Inc. ("United") (NYSE: UAL) violated federal and state laws in connection with the company's potential conflicts of interest.
In February 2015, United learned of a federal probe into its relationship with David Samson, a former chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (the "Port Authority"). In 2011, United was pushing for massive improvements to the Newark Liberty airport, where it is the largest carrier, when David Samson became chairman of the Port Authority, which operates all New York-area airports.
After Jeff Smisek, United's CEO, and Samson had dinner in Manhattan, United launched the low-traffic Newark-Columbia route. The money losing direct flight, which left Newark on Thursday and returned Monday, was canceled days after Samson resigned from his post last year.
On September 8, 2015, United announced that Smisek, and two other top executives were leaving the company in connection with internal and federal investigations associated with the Port Authority.
