More U.S. test centers for top global English language test
LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the first time, IELTS will offer testing in Blacksburg, VA, DeKalb, IL, and Montgomery, AL, to add to the growing list of U.S. cities where students can now take IELTS - the world's leading test of English proficiency for higher education and migration.
Over 50 locations in 29 states across the country now offer IELTS, as it is increasingly being used as proof of English proficiency by over 3,000 U.S. institutions and programs. Last year, over 1.7 million IELTS tests were taken in more than 130 countries, including the various testing centers located on the campuses of U.S. community colleges, university testing centers and English as a Second Language (ESL) departments.
IELTS has already begun testing at Virginia Tech Language and Culture Institute in Blacksburg, VA, and will shortly begin testing at ELS Language Centers, DeKalb on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and Auburn University at Montgomery in Montgomery, AL – bringing the total number of IELTS testing locations to more than 50 across the U.S. In addition, more IELTS test dates will be offered in Boise, ID and Dallas, TX through two new test centers located at Boise State University and LeTourneau University Dallas Education Center.
"Student demand is the key reason for IELTS' growth in the U.S., and we are expanding our network to provide more convenient testing options to test takers across the country," said IELTS Regional Manager of the U.S. Test Center Network, Guy Edwards. "The global network of more than 800 IELTS test center locations is constantly expanding in order to meet the needs of increasing numbers of test takers around the world."
