More than 6,000 acres of Texas Panhandle farmland set for October 24 auction

DALHART, Texas, Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Approximately 6,054 acres of irrigated farmland in the Panhandle will be offered at auction Friday, Oct. 24. Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company will manage the auction, in cooperation with Paul A. Lynn & Associates LLC.

"By any criterion, this is a major offering of Texas cropland. This land, almost all of which is tillable, is located near Dumas and Stratford, and has 16 center pivots and 33 irrigation wells," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company.

Three tracts – of 649 acres, 1,884 acres and 1,625 acres – are in two locations just southwest of Dumas, in Hartley County. The rest of the land is just south of Stratford (Sherman and Dallam counties), in four tracts ranging from 308 acres to 639 acres.

"The farms have tenants in place through the 2014 crop year, and the Hartley County tracts, closer to Dumas, are leased for the 2015 crop year as well," said Schrader.

The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Rita Blanca Coliseum, Dalhart.

Bids will be allowed on any combination of tracts, or on all the land being offered. "We expect to see both investors and operators bidding," said Schrader. Online bidding will be available during the live auction.
