BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Dec. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Mall of America and non-profit organization, Free Bikes 4 Kidz (FB4K) broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most bicycles donated to charity in 24 hours. Throughout the last two months, approximately 4000 volunteers were involved in the collection and repair of the 5,512 bikes leading up to today's giveaway.
The partnership between FB4K and Mall of America was announced on September 30, 2015. In October, the non-profit organization set up a temporary workspace in the new Mall of America addition on level 1, north. The workspace was used for volunteers to collect, repair and clean bikes.
The FB4K organization is geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. They donate their bikes through a network of non-profits, community organizations, churches and schools. Since it's origination in 2008, it has given away more than 30,000 bikes.
