More Than 2,000 GoFundMe Campaigns Raise Over $1.2M to Support Louisiana Communities Impacted by Devastating Floods
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Aug. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The devastating floods in Louisiana have killed eight individuals and left tens of thousands stranded. Within just a few days, over 2,000 GoFundMe campaigns have raised over $1.2 million to support the victims of the floods.
The GoFundMe community has a history of coming together when natural disasters strike. $7 million was raised on GoFundMe in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquakes. Campaign organizers raised $2.5 million for victims of the 2015 California wildfires, and over $1.1 million for survivors of the storms in the Carolinas this past year.
