MORE by MAPIC: a New Pavilion to Highlight Emerging Consumer Trends
16-18 November - Palais des Festivals, Cannes
PARIS, Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At the 17th MAPIC there will be a new MORE Pavilion in the exhibition area. Informative and interactive, the MORE Pavilion features a conference cycle, a demonstration space to showcase the 'shop of the future,' and a networking area for experts to discuss new consumer trends and their impact on retail real estate.
"The MORE Pavilion will offer more content and more interaction, using customised consulting and a more individualised approach to help industry professionals define and roll out their strategies. Online and offline retail, multichannel approaches, culture and shopping and 'slow' commerce, will be the key trends demonstrated here this year," says Nathalie Depetro, Director of MAPIC.
A cycle of short, high-impact sessions
Topics will include:
- How to mix on and offline
- How to mix culture and shopping
- How to create new types of stores thanks to e-commerce
In all there will be 25 thirty-minute sessions to give retailers and shopping centre owners the essentials for building their strategy. Speakers include Roger Wade, the creator of Box Park (UK), who will introduce his innovative concept of the pop-up mall recently installed in London (November 17 at 3.00pm). Offering low-cost, low-risk boxes on a single site, Roger Wade enables trend-setting brands to test their concept or create an event. The Generation Responsable association and the restaurant chain Courtepaille will highlight the impact of environmental actions on the brand image of retailers in a workshop organised on November 16 at 4.00pm.
A showcase for tomorrow's shop
Extending the topics of these sessions, a demonstration area 'The New Shopping Experience' will showcase a futuristic shop developed by the retail real estate industry's competitiveness centre in Lille (PICOM) and ID Group, that owns the Okaidi, Obaibi and Jacadi children's brands. Using new technologies in the sales outlet, the demonstration will focus on the world of children. Visitors will be projected into a novel virtual shopping experience, with a virtual fitting room that uses a camera to identify the customer's build and suggest the ideal size and availability of a product. Another innovation is the 'magic wall' of animated images that lights up when a visitor goes by and transports them into the universe of the brand in question.
A meeting forum
The MORE Pavilion will also encourage MAPIC attendees to meet up with experts, learn about the latest developments in the sector, and share best practices. The consulting firms GDR Creative Intelligence (UK), specialised in new consumer trends, and Lord Culture (France), a cultural operations consultancy, will both be partnering the event. Visitors will also be able to find out about the Greek restaurant 'Olive, Oil & Oregano,' a success-story in 'slow food,' and Mall-connect, known for its expertise in digital strategies.
