Adds to Existing ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Certifications
NEWBURY PARK, Calif., Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Moravia's Life Sciences division has earned the ISO 17100 certification. A global leader in specialist translation and globalization solutions, Moravia is one of the first companies in the world to achieve the new ISO translation certification. This complements Moravia Life Sciences' existing ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certifications, which the company has held for years.
ISO 17100:2015 is an international standard for translation services that covers the core translation process, quality assurance and traceability. Largely based on the current European Standard for translation services, EN 15038, it's designed to provide translation service providers with a set of procedures and requirements to meet market needs, a critical necessity when translating medical devices and guides.
Moravia's Life Sciences division was certified by IQS (UK) Ltd., one of the first certification bodies to be accredited by the ASCB (the Accreditation Service for Certifying Bodies in Europe) for this new ISO standard, which was published just in 2015. The audit found no observations or non-conformances for Moravia.
"Translation-related ISO standards establish universal requirements for translation agencies worldwide. Life Sciences companies in particular require adherence to stringent standards because translation quality can literally be a matter of life and death," said Milos Tlustak, program manager for Moravia's Life Sciences division. "This is the core reason we sought to build on our existing EN 15038 certification and to become one of the first companies to achieve ISO 17100 certification. We also successfully passed recent recertification audits for ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, again with zero non-conformances found."
"What's critical to our clients is that we're in the forefront of the certification movement," added Li Murty, Moravia's VP, Strategic Accounts & Life Sciences Program. "We believe rigorous certification standards not only benefit Moravia, but our industry as a whole. The new ISO 17100 certification will lead to higher client confidence, continuous improvement of services, and high-quality results that come from well-managed workflows."
