Monument Wealth Management's Tim MicKey Provides Perspectives at The Advisor and Broker-Dealer Forum on Retail Alternative Investments
Managing Director Tim MicKey Serves on Panel Discussing Best Practices in Marketing and Performance Measurement for Non-Traded REITs
WASHINGTON, June 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Monument Wealth Management, an independent investment management and private wealth planning firm, announced that Tim MicKey, a Managing Director, recently served as a panelist at The Advisor and Broker-Dealer Forum on Retail Alternative Investments.
Sponsored by Financial Research Associates, the two-day event held at the Princeton Club in New York City on May 17-18, brought together leaders from firms across the country to discuss some of the more critical issues facing the financial services industry.
At the conference, Mr. MicKey, serving on a panel with other executives, spoke about best practices for non-traded REITs, including advertising, marketing, performance measurement, and sales, within the context of the increasing importance of alternative investments exposure within investor portfolios.
Summarizing his comments at the conference, Tim MicKey said, "Investors are becoming more and more conscious of non-traded REITs, and exposure to these products within client portfolios continues to rise. While there is certainly opportunity within this space for financial advisors to generate solid returns on behalf of their clients, REITs should be regarded as long-term investments with very limited liquidity. It is, therefore, vitally important that advisors exhaust all their due diligence on behalf of their clients, having a full and thorough understanding of their financial situation and future goals."
Mr. MicKey concluded, "I look at these events as an opportunity to highlight the need for continuing education with regard to REITs – both among my fellow financial advisors and the investing public. While it's clear to me that there is superficial understanding, there remains a large information gulf, and as gatekeepers to the investing public, it is critically important for us to positively influence this space to the benefit of our end-investor clients."
