Montegrappa Launches Two New Pen Collections
—Revivals of the Cosmopolitan and Privilege Collections Make their Debut at Baselworld—
LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Montegrappa, Italy's most revered manufacturer of fine writing instruments, today announced the introduction of two distinct pen collections resurrected from the company's historic archives. Debuting at Baselworld this week from March 24 to March 31, the world's largest and most important event in the watch and jewelry sector which is held annually in Basel, Switzerland, Montegrappa's Cosmopolitan and Privilege Gioiello luxury pen collections each exhibit the same attention to detail and employ the same artisan skills that are synonymous with fine jewelry.
Following the phenomenal response to the return of the legendary Dragon pen as a limited edition from the "Icons" series, Montegrappa has revived the Cosmopolitan, a much-loved collection from the 1990's.
A sterling silver pen with resin accents with details formed in bas relief, the Cosmopolitan will serve as the medium to communicate the spirit of six different cultures. Each will be offered as a special edition of 500 roller ball pens, 500 fountain pens and 50 fashioned in gold. The series will feature the following distinct offerings:
- Arabian Animals Of Desert
- Russia's 1st Space Flight
- Mt. Rushmore
- Bohemian Paris
- Victorian England
- China's Ancient Gods –Fu Lu Shou
The Privilege Gioiello collection's original form was inspired by a model from the 1930's that was part of Montegrappa's museum collection. The revamped version heralds new engraving techniques and has been enhanced by sterling silver and decorated with new motifs produced by special techniques featuring hand-etched patterns.
Finishes on the Privilege Gioiello include engraving with the same detail as on the cap to create a "camouflage" effect. Four patterns will be offered including Arctic, with its icy cool reflections; Bark, with a grainy, sylvan surface; Peacock, bearing whorls as would decorate majestic tail-feathers; and Wave, suggesting the flow of water.
Privilege Gioiello will be available as fountain pen and roller ball only.
