Montblanc Announces Facebook Application in Partnership With Texas Children's Cancer Center
NEW YORK, July 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Montblanc announced today the new Texas Children's Hospital "Wish Lantern" application on the official Montblanc Facebook. The "Wish Lantern" application acts as a microsite within Montblanc's Facebook page. In several simple clicks, fans can purchase the bracelet, showcase their support with "share" features and create personal messages with the "Wish Lantern" feature. The "Wish Lantern" messages can then be sent to friends via email or shared on their personal wall. To find the "Wish Lantern" application, look for the bracelet image, titled "Join to Care," located beneath the cover image. Montblanc is proud to have the very first lantern lit by Laurel, a young patient of the Cancer Center, who was diagnosed with a rare tumor. After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Laurel is now cancer free.
The partnership with Texas Children's Hospital began in February 2012 with the launch of specially created woven bracelets featuring a silver clasp adorned with the distinctive Texas Children's Hospital logo with $50 of each bracelet purchased donated to the hospital. Facebook users will have the opportunity to purchase this specially created woven bracelet through the Montblanc website once a wish lantern is shared. Texas Children's Cancer Center - located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston - is internationally renowned and is the largest pediatric cancer center in the United States. Founded in 1954, Texas Children's Hospital has cared for more than 17.5 million children from every corner of the world.
Social commitment is an integral part of Montblanc's brand philosophy. Charitable partnerships in previous years include UNICEF, for which Montblanc contributed over $4 million to education and literacy programs for children worldwide, along with Best Buddies International, a global non-profit organization that creates opportunities for friendship, employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Most recently, Montblanc joined forces with the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, offering charitable support to programs dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging talent in theatre, dance, and film by awarding grants in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships.
