Montage Hotels & Resorts Searches For Inspiring Young Humanitarians; Winners Will Be Awarded $50,000 In College Scholarships
Five winners will each receive a $10,000 scholarship to an accredited college or university
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Sept. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Montage Hotels & Resorts is rewarding young humanitarians with scholarships to pursue their dreams with the second annual Montage Memory Makers contest. The luxury hotel group is casting a search for 13 – 17 year old young humanitarians who are making impactful changes in their communities based on four criteria: 1) Community Service, 2) Impact of achievement on the community and beyond, 3) Creativity of achievement, 4) Inspirational value to others. Five winners will ultimately be selected and each will be awarded a $10,000 to their accredited college or university.*
During the entry period from now through September 26, 2014, entrants who meet the contest requirements, may visit montagehotels.com/memory and upload a three-hundred (300) word essay (mandatory), and a video (optional) detailing their efforts to inspire and provide service to their communities.
All contestant entries will be evaluated based on the contest requirements, and on their efforts to inspire and provide service to their communities. Ten finalists will be selected by a panel of judges made up of executives and founders of national organizations, including:
- Alan Fuerstman, Founder & CEO of Montage Hotels & Resorts
- Premal Shah, President of Kiva.org, a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.
- Charles Best, Founder & CEO of DonorsChoose.org, a nonprofit organization which provides a simple way to address educational inequality.
- Darell Hammond, Founder & CEO of KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to the bold goal of bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all children, particularly those growing up in poverty in America.
The ten finalists will be announced on a social voting platform at montagehotels.com/memory allowing fans, family and friends to vote for their favorite candidate. The national public voting will determine the final five (5) recipients of the scholarships, each who will receive a $10,000 scholarship to an accredited college or university. In addition to the $10,000 scholarship, these five (5) winners will receive a trip for two (2) to Montage Laguna Beach to meet with Montage Founder and CEO Alan Fuerstman. They will also be highlighted on the contest website and in Montage Magazine's spring issue as the Montage Memory Maker Ambassadors for 2015.
