Money Management International Announces Partnership With Mapping Your Future
Nonprofits Join Forces to Provide College Students with Financial Counseling and Education
HOUSTON, June 23, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With student loan debt surpassing the trillion dollar mark, there's an urgent need for new and innovative programs and services aimed at helping families gain access to valuable money management and financial aid education. Mapping Your Future, a leading online resource provider for financial aid guidance and student loan counseling, announced a partnership today with Money Management International (MMI), the largest nonprofit, full-service consumer credit counseling agency in the United States. This partnership will provide more comprehensive financial aid and money management services to help reduce student loan default rates.
Through this partnership, Mapping Your Future will combine its reliable online financial education resources with MMI's family of person-to-person financial counseling and support services, with the ultimate goal of helping students build financial management skills to meet student loan repayment agreements and other obligations beyond graduation.
"We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Mapping Your Future," said Ivan Hand, president and CEO of MMI. "Through our combined services, students, schools and financial aid professionals can better access the information they need during the financial aid process."
Mapping Your Future's comprehensive online offerings, including online entrance and exit counseling, technically-advanced and secure document transfer capabilities and quality customer service, combined with MMI's confidential person-to-person financial counseling and debt management assistance, provides a more inclusive financial education experience for students and their families.
"As the pioneers of online entrance and exit counseling, we recognize the need for counseling that addresses student loan management and other financial issues for students and families," said Cathy Mueller, executive director of Mapping Your Future. "Through this partnership with MMI, we have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students, who, in turn, will make important contributions to society - one in which student loan debt shouldn't be a burden."
In addition, to support the partnership, MappingYourFuture.org has been enhanced to provide access to a large suite of comprehensive financial aid tools and resources for students and parents, as well as member resources for partnering schools, including access to 22 online counseling session types, document collection and transfer services, customized counseling program material, and more.
