Monarch Airlines to Further Reduce Carbon Footprint with Pratt & Whitney's EcoPower® Engine Wash
PARIS, June 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PARIS AIR SHOW -- Monarch, the scheduled leisure airline, has signed an exclusive three-year agreement for Pratt & Whitney's environmentally friendly EcoPower® engine wash service. The washes will be performed by Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners at Manchester, London Luton and London Gatwick Airports. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

"From 1990 to 2005, we improved our fuel efficiency by 20.9 percent and our goal is to further improve our fuel efficiency by 6.8 percent by the end of 2015. The EcoPower engine wash will further reduce our fleet's fuel consumption helping us achieve this goal."

Pratt & Whitney's patented EcoPower engine wash system reduces fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminating approximately three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved, while also decreasing engine gas temperature, increasing the amount of time an engine can stay on wing.
