Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America Holding "Stroller Jams" Across The Country
Moms and Children to Rally at Local Congressional Offices for Senators' Support of New and Stronger Gun Laws
INDIANAPOLIS, April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the Senate nears a vote on legislation that would strengthen the nation's gun laws, members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America are holding "Stroller Jams" across the country at their Senators' in-district offices and asking them to vote "yes" for new and stronger gun laws.
Beginning today, moms bring their children to "Stroller Jams" at the in-district offices of their senators, demanding action on new and stronger gun laws, including expanded background checks, strong anti-trafficking and straw purchasing measures, and the Assault Weapons Ban amendment. Indiana, Arizona, Oklahoma, Virginia, Maine and North Carolina are among the states planning "Stroller Jams."
"Our elected officials need to understand how important new and stronger gun laws are to the safety of our children and families before they vote; eight American children are shot and killed every day in this country," said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. "We want our Senators to know we expect them to vote in our children's best interests, not for special interests."
On Thursday, April 11, Moms Demand Action is asking moms unable to attend a "Stroller Jam" in-person to show their support by participating in a virtual "Stroller Jam." From 1 to 3 p.m. EDT, Moms are asked to go to http://momsdemandaction.org/twitter/ to Fast Tweet their Senators a customized "Stroller Jam" message. For a list of "Stroller Jam" events across the country, go to: http://momsdemandaction.org/stroller-jam/.
