MomoCon, Atlanta's Anime and Gaming Convention Returns on Memorial Day Weekend!
Tenth MomoCon anticipates another year of explosive growth!
ATLANTA, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MomoCon Anime and Gaming Convention in 2013 exceeded all expectations and set a new attendance record of 12,200 people growing by 42% over 2012. The organizers of the events are prepared for a repeat in growth for 2014. "MomoCon's incredible growth for 2013 means 2014 will need to be even bigger and better!" said Christopher Stuckey MomoCon's Internal Chairman. "MomoCon 2014 will be the 10th year and will feature the addition of over 50,000 sq ft of event space. We will continue to use the Hilton Atlanta, but also expand into the adjacent Marriott Marquis."
With the addition of the new venue and large expectations of growth MomoCon is poised to be the premiere event in Atlanta on Memorial Day Weekend 2014 (May 23rd – 25th). "This move gives us the opportunity to entertain families who were otherwise too busy with work or school on our previous March dates. Memorial Day Weekend opens all new doors." said Jessica Merriman MomoCon's External Chairman.
MomoCon has long been established as an epicenter for cosplay / costuming in the Southeast, with an emphasis on anime and animation. Costuming guests will be posing for photographs, signing autographs, and providing panels on costume craft. Animation guests this year include voice over legends Maurice LaMarche, Rob Paulsen, and Tress MacNeille among others. Mike Reiss, creator of the Critic and producer for the long lasting Simpson will be returning to MomoCon. "Many other guests are already announced," says Stuckey, "and more announcements are on their way."
Not just an anime convention, in recent years gaming has exploded in popularity. MomoCon scored a media coup in February by hosting a REDDIT "Ask Me Anything" with 2014 guests Courtnee Draper and Troy Baker of the popular game BioShock Infinite. Dan Carroll, Senior Director for Media Relations explains, "This year we will have our largest gaming space ever and have already secured commitments from Hi-Rez Studios and Lab-Zero Games. We are crafting a world-class line up of gaming industry guests." Digital gaming and table top gaming will represented as well as gaming panels from industry insiders.
For those interested in attending MomoCon 2014, the hotel registration is already available online for $129 a night and advanced memberships are also for sale for only $40 for all 3 days at MomoCon.com
