Momentum President Donnalyn Smith Named A "Working Mother of the Year" By She Runs It
NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Momentum North America President Donnalyn Smith was named a "Working Mother of the Year" by She Runs It, the organization celebrating women leading at all levels in marketing and media. This award celebrates Working Mothers who achieve outstanding business results while also serving as role models or mentors at work, at home and within their communities.
In addition to raising her three children, Smith has been crucial in leading Momentum to impressive growth, major new client wins and dozens of agency-wide honors like Best Places to Work, Best in Experiential Marketing and Best in Corporate Consulting. At the same time, Smith has shepherded a major investment of agency resources into helping parents manage both their work and home lives and be successful at both. Among the programs she's introduced are FlexWork initiatives mFit, a wellness program designed for both body and brain.
In 2017, Smith led the "It Takes a Village" tour, along with the 3% Conference, holding panel discussions in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Atlanta with industry leaders addressing how to better support and encourage women in the advertising and marketing industries. She also sat on the panel "Non-Linear Is the New Normal" at this year's 3% Conference in New York, discussing how many women pause, downshift and relaunch their careers.
"Donnalyn is a remarkable leader, always focused on how she can help the agency, and the agency's employees to achieve more and do better," Momentum Chairman/CEO Chris Weil said. "Her emphasis on our talent, and especially women and mothers, in our organization has led to sweeping changes and improvements for all our employees. Donnalyn is an inspiration to the many employees whom she mentors and supports, and to all of us who work alongside her. She has been integral in helping Momentum become the leading brand experience agency in the world."
In addition to her work at Momentum, Smith is dedicated to creating better standards for developing and encouraging diverse future talent for the industry. She is a member of the 4A's High School Executive Advisory Board, contributing to the curriculum development for participating high schools, whose missions are to enable gateways for diverse teens to join our industry. Smith is also a founding member of the 4A's Board of Account Management, created in 2016 to elevate and champion the practice of agency-side business leadership across the industry.
Donnalyn joined Momentum in 1995 as a Group Account Director, and was named Managing Director of Momentum Cincinnati in 2000. She was elevated to EVP, Regional Director of North America in 2010 and was named President, NA in 2015.
Smith will officially receive the Working Mother of the Year award at a ceremony held in New York in February.
