Moffitt Cancer Center Hosts Free Lunch Program on Gynecologic Cancer
TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Moffitt Cancer Center will offer the third in a series of free cancer education lunch programs called "De Moffitt a Puerto Rico: Charlas sobre cáncer" at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 9. This program, presented in Spanish, will focus on the latest advances in gynecologic cancer early detection and treatment. The event will be held at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, 1309 Ashford Ave., San Juan, Puerto Rico.
According to the National Cancer Institute, endometrial cancer is one of the most common cancers, with more than 47,000 new cases expected among women in the United States in 2012.
At this free event, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk one-on-one with a top expert in the field of gynecologic cancer research and treatment from Moffitt – the only Florida-based Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute.
Moffitt expert Jesús González-Bosquet, M.D., Ph.D., a gynecologic oncologist with Moffitt's Center for Women's Oncology, will discuss gynecologic cancers. He will share information about new treatments for ovarian cancer, early detection of endometrial cancer, screening for cervical cancer and HPV vaccines. The Puerto Rico Advisory Council for Moffitt Cancer Center (translate as "la Junta Consultiva de Moffitt Cancer Center en Puerto Rico") is hosting the program.
