Moffitt Cancer Center Hosts Free Lunch Program Focused on Prostate Cancer Education
TAMPA, Fla., June 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Moffitt Cancer Center will offer the second in a series of free cancer education lunch programs called "De Moffitt a Puerto Rico: Charlas sobre cancer" at 11:30 a.m. June 22. This program, presented in Spanish, will focus on the latest advances in prostate cancer early detection and treatment. The event will be held at The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, 6961 Avenue of the Governors, Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico.
According to the National Cancer Institute, about 242,000 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012. Prostate cancer is the second-most common type of cancer among men in the U.S. behind skin cancer.
At this free event, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk one-on-one with a top expert in the field of prostate cancer research and treatment from Moffitt Cancer Center – the only Florida-based comprehensive cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Moffitt expert Julio Pow-Sang, M.D., chair of the Cancer Center's Department of Genitourinary Oncology, will share prostate cancer screening and treatment information, information on new advances in research, and answer questions. The Puerto Rico Advisory Council for Moffitt Cancer Center is hosting the lunch series.
