Moen Incorporated And San Diego Community Housing Corporation Align In Support of Affordable Housing
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of a national program in support of affordable housing in the Hispanic community, Moen Incorporated, the #1 faucet brand in North America, will partner with the San Diego Community Housing Corporation (SDCHC), a prominent non-profit housing and community development organization in San Diego. Committed to the conservation of natural resources, SDCHC will upgrade two major properties to become more green energy efficient. The recent installation of electrical solar panels has reduced electrical usage by the properties and the installation of Moen water efficient fixtures will reduce the water usage of these properties.
Since its inception, SDCHC (www.sdchc.org) has developed over 14 million dollars worth of homeownership projects for local residents. SDCHC owns or operates 1,483 multi-family units, acquired and rehabilitated 79 single-family homes, and over 5,000 families benefit from the Family Learning Centers. The organization is recognized for developing, preserving, and maintaining quality housing developments that support individuals, families, and neighborhoods in reaching their fullest potential.
Through the program called Alcanzando Suenos con Moen ("Achieving Dreams with Moen"), Moen (espanol.moen.com) will donate state-of-the-art and water-saving kitchen and bathroom fixtures for 52 units at Hacienda Townhomes located at 350 17th Street in downtown San Diego, and 51 units at Torrey Apartments, 228 Chambers Street in El Cajon. Partnering with SDCHC and donating state-of-the-art kitchen and bath fixtures will help to lessen the costs associated with the rehabilitation of the homes.
The Alcanzando Suenos con Moen program was launched in Chicago by Moen Incorporated in May 2007 and since then Moen has partnered with key organizations in South Florida, Phoenix, New York, San Antonio, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
To celebrate this collaboration with Moen, SDCHC will host a press conference on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:30 am at Hacienda Townhomes located at 350 17th Street in downtown San Diego.
SDCHC President & CEO Robert St German will discuss details of the organization's rehabilitation project for these two properties as well as plans for 2013. Local officials attending the press conference include Ron Lacey, Representative for Mayor Jerry Sanders, Congressman Bob Filner and Councilmember Kevin Faulconer.
SDCHC President and CEO Robert St German, said, "Moen's generous donation will bring top quality fixtures for the bathroom and kitchen to our residents and create a modern and comfortable living environment for them."
