Moen Incorporated And Neighborhood Housing Services Of South Florida Commit To Homeownership For Low-income And Latino Residents
MIAMI, Dec. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Moen Incorporated, the #1 faucet brand in North America, continues its efforts to provide affordable housing and homeownership to low-income and Latino communities through its national product donation program "Alcanzando Suenos con Moen," ("Achieving Dreams with Moen.) In time for the holiday season, Moen has partnered with the Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida (NHSSF), a prominent non-profit housing and community development organization in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties to help lower the costs associated with the construction of new homes. Since 2007, Moen (espanol.moen.com) has donated state-of-the-art and water-saving kitchen and bathroom fixtures to major non-profit housing development organizations in Chicago, South Florida, Phoenix, New York, San Antonio, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles.
Utilizing funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's Neighborhood Stabilization Program (Round 2) and other funding sources, NHSSF is in the process of constructing DuPuis Pointe, a 27 new single-family home sub-division. DuPuis Pointe sits on 4.2 acres located in the Gladeview neighborhood in the north central area of Miami-Dade County. DuPuis Pointe marks the first new home construction in the area in over 10 years.
At a special ceremony on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 10 am, NHSSF and District 2 County Commissioner Jean Monestime unveiled the first five DuPuis Pointe homes completed. The event took place at Dupuis Pointe, 3103 NW 64th Street. Present at the event included the contracted buyers, officials from HUD and NeighborWorks® America, as well as local funders, residents and community partners.
"Moen's generous donation brings top quality fixtures for the kitchen and bathroom and helps ensure water conservation and lower water utility bills. We look forward to expanding our relationship with Moen as we continue to build and rehabilitate homes to serve low-moderate income families throughout our community," states Arden Shank, NHSSF President & CEO.
DuPuis Pointe (dupuispointe.com), a fresh approach to affordable living, includes spacious 3-bedroom/2-bathroom and 4-bedroom/2-bathroom model homes. The houses are built using building materials that provide a high insulation value and a tight building envelope, which saves energy and reduces the homeowner's utility costs. In addition, all the homes are built using the latest techniques in hurricane preparation and have received an Energy Star 3 rating.
