Verandas will Provide 807 Attainable Luxury Residences, Unparalleled Amenities Including Fitness and Wellness Services, Dining and Event Spaces, Modern Conveniences for Active, Independent Lifestyles
Tradition of Maple Lane Continues with 27 Holes of Refined and Exciting Golf
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., Oct. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A new vision for active, attainable luxury for those 55 and bolder will come to Sterling Heights with Verandas, a $300 million, resort-style master planned community that will include the legendary Maple Lane golf course.
Verandas provides 807 detached, townhome, condominium, and luxury apartment homes in a setting surrounded by beautiful landscapes, mature trees and a wide range of amenities designed to create a carefree lifestyle for residents. Verandas will include a 30,000 square foot event and celebration center with dining, fitness, indoor and outdoor pools and spas, retail and other venues accessible to the public, as well as private spaces for residents only.
"Verandas will exceed the expectations of the active adult lifestyle in the entire region," said Dominic J. Moceri, Vice President of Moceri Management Group. "This world-class community allows generations to thrive in the communities in which they know and love, connected to their families and with conveniences that allow them to spend their time and attention on the things and people they love."
The growth rate in and around Macomb and Eastern Oakland Counties for those 55 and over is anticipated to grow by over 40 percent by 2040. Nationally, an emerging trend of those 55-plus is to age in place in communities that encourage active lifestyles, lifelong learning and connection, and convenient access to a broad range of amenities.
"We are thrilled to have the Verandas development coming to our city, as it represents Sterling Heights' commitment to exploring innovative housing options to meet the desires of our community," said Mayor Michael C. Taylor. "This development allows our City to attract new residents as well as provide a new housing opportunity for those currently living in Sterling Heights that no longer want to reside in a traditional single family home."
Verandas also includes the 160-residence Blossom Lane, featuring one- and two-bedroom independent and assisted living apartments and studio suites. Blossom Lane will have a senior-focused fitness studio with group exercise, pneumatic resistance training systems and cardio machines; and an on-site health and wellness clinic and programming. On-site activities, travel excursions and a range of educational programs will round out a range of options.
The tradition of Maple Lane Golf Course will continue with the redesigned 27-hole golf course by the internationally award-winning course designer and Michigan native, Raymond Hearn. The course will be redesigned as an 18-hole resort-style course and a 9-hole practice course, illuminated with downward casting LED lights for daytime or evening golf.
Of the 288 acres, 60 percent of The Verandas will be lush open space and manicured golf course.
Construction on Verandas is expected to begin in 2017, pending approvals.
