MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Headquartered in Belgium, Bank J.Van Breda & C° is a specialist advisory bank which exclusively targets entrepreneurs and the liberal professions. To achieve its goal of becoming the first mobile bank in Belgium, the bank deployed an enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform from MobileIron (NASDAQ: MOBL).

"We needed a comprehensive mobile platform to enable more interactive client engagements, and we needed a good integrator located in Belgium," said Bert Van Hove, managing director of Informatica Van Breda. "We tested some of the leading EMM solutions, but MobileIron and its reseller partner MOBCO were the only providers who fulfilled all of our technology and integration requirements."
Moving Beyond Simple Transactions with Apple Devices
In 2008, the bank set a goal to become the first mobile bank in Belgium. It distributed PC tablets to account managers so they could perform simple transactions, such as signing electronic documents, at the customer's home or work site instead of at the branch office. Account managers also used BlackBerry devices for mobile email. The bank migrated off the BlackBerry platform due diminishing market share and internal pressure to switch to a more flexible model.
Bank J.Van Breda & C° needed faster, more flexible mobile devices and the ability to securely access mobile applications and content, such as customer files and presentations. In the end, the bank decided to adopt Apple devices to meet their requirements for speed and simplified management.
Delivering a Mobile Experience Customers Can Bank On
With MobileIron, Bank J.Van Breda & C° can secure and manage all of its mobile devices and custom-built apps. The company also uses MobileIron's native integration to deliver email and calendar apps to Apple devices.
"The MobileIron platform is helping us evolve from a purely transaction-based mobile deployment to a more dynamic and interactive model of customer engagement," said Marc Wijnants, CIO of Bank J.Van Breda & C°. "iPads are interactive and always on, so the manager doesn't have to wait for the device to start up. With the iPad, you just switch it on and applications can be launched in less than 30 seconds."
A Bank in Your Pocket
Bank J.Van Breda & C° is working to mobilize its full banking application by the summer of 2015. The customer-facing mobile app will be deployed and supported through the MobileIron platform, and will allow managers to provide more comprehensive customer service in a mobile environment. Customers will be able to create their own accounts, manage information, apply for loans, buy investment bonds, and more, all from a mobile device.
"It will be like having a bank in your pocket," said Wijnants.
