MobileHealth App Patient Buddy Winner of ACT-IAC Incubator Award
WASHINGTON, Feb. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Creative Information Technology, Inc. (CITI), a growing mid-tier IT firm, based in Northern Virginia announced today that its latest innovation for the mobile health market, Patient Buddy™, was honored at the ACT-IAC's (American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council) first-ever Igniting Innovation technology competition, held on Thursday, February 6, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, in Washington, DC. Patient Buddy, a first-of-its-kind health care IT solution, was selected as one of the top eight finalists (out of 30 finalists, which were picked out of the original 86 entries), and ultimately was selected by a panel of 4 judges to win the ACT-IAC Incubator Award.
Patient Buddy is CITI's new mobile health app designed to address the significant problem of hospital readmissions. Incorporating medication adherence monitoring and a powerful analytics engine that streams data to numerous dashboards, it enables the case manager to quickly see patient status and prioritize follow-up efforts. Patient Buddy helps hospitals and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) reduce the risk of new, stiff penalties to their Medicare reimbursement dollars due to high readmission rates.
"These latest kudos for our new mobile health product are very gratifying," said Sunil Kolhekar, president and CEO of CITI.
John DeSoto, vice president of CITI's Health and Life Science IT division, who created and coordinated the development of the app, was equally delighted with the buzz the new app caused at the event.
"It was exciting to see the ACT-IAC members and attendees recognize Patient Buddy's obvious potential as a means of keeping case managers and patients connected after they are discharged. They immediately recognized the importance of our medication adherence tool and how the app improves the care team's workflow" he said. "We are anticipating a very positive response from the market."
ACT-IAC is a non-profit educational organization established to promote the innovative use of technology among its member agencies and companies.
