Mobile Tech Duo Announces Cross Country Trip in Smart Phone on Wheels
NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- What does it take to launch a mobile tech company in today's digital age? "A lot more than technology," says Likestyle Founders Brad Thorne and Jerry Broughton. The two are traveling coast to coast in a vehicle made to look like a large HTC smart-phone dubbed, Mobile1.
They are bringing attention to their mobile rewards platform that delivers rewards based on user interest while raising funds for the user's charity of choice. However, Thorne assures that their trip they call "the Quest" is more than a publicity stunt.
"We want to show that small start ups can connect with large corporations if they are visionary and creative. We're going way beyond tweets and texts. We're using all the technology at hand to cover our very non-technical approach to achieving our goal," Thorne explains.
The two plan to build the custom vehicle and drive it to Washington state to solicit a meeting with HTC, a large mobile manufacturer who they believe will be motivated to support a campaign for their mobile application. Viewers interested in following their exploits including the construction of the vehicle will be able to access video blog posts online.
"We plan on shooting the majority of the footage for the Quest from the road as we can upload the video files directly from our HTC phones," Broughton adds.
For Thorne, failure is not an option.
"We'll succeed in the Quest even if more consumers become aware that they have a chance to support their favorite charity just by shopping or going out to eat. For us, opening up this revenue stream for charities without consumers having to open their wallets is the ultimate reward."
Likestyle.com notes a summer 2010 launch in locations across the US.
