Mobile Payment Services Continue to Rapidly Rise in Popularity - Newest Stand Along Smart Wallet Protects Your Identity While Replacing All the Cards in Your Wallet
CORAL SPRINGS, Florida, March 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Primary reason there is currently a massive amount of mobile-payment platform innovation taking place today is because it is estimated the consumer payments industry will process about $2.7 trillion of card-based payments in the US in 2015 alone. Competition for the consumer's wallet is intense and tech companies continue to improve their mobile payment products and applications. Companies in focus today are: NXT-ID, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTD), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL), Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG), eBay Inc. (NASDAQ: EBAY) and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE: BABA)
NXT-ID, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTD) and (NXTDW), a biometric authentication company focused on the growing mobile commerce market, releases a new Wocket smart wallet video featuring David Tunnell, Chief Technology Officer of NXT-ID. Set in the manufacturing facility in Florida, David explains the benefits and features of the Wocket, currently undergoing testing and being shipped to consumers this spring. As new competition enters the secure payment and mobile payment technology market, David explains, "A big difference between Wocket and other approaches, is that it stands alone, not dependent on any other device or network where hackers frequently attack. Your private data belongs to you and only you, and no one can access it but you, with multi-factor authentication that proves you are who you say you are."

Mr. Tunnell also goes on to say," One thing that makes our card different is that you can lose it. Unlike other approaches, we make our smart card purposefully blank by forcing it to erase itself after a successful swipe, or after 5 minutes in case the card never gets swiped. So you never need to worry about your card being stolen."
NXTD also reports the Wocket(TM) smart wallet has been named the "Number One Best Tech Gift for 2015" by Rethink Modern. Rethink Modern (http://www.rethinkmodern.com/) is a web magazine focused on sharing modern and innovative items for your home and lifestyle that have a unique function or design. The Wocket was previously recognized as one of the top technology products at January's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 held in Las Vegas. In other Smart Tech/Mobile Payment News & Happenings from around the market: Buzz around Apple Pay (NASDAQ: AAPL) is doing little to boost consumer interest in using smartphones to buy goods and services, a new poll shows.Almost two-thirds, or 64 percent, of Americans say they'd "never" or "hardly ever" use their cellphone to make a purchase, according to a CreditCards.com report releasedTuesday. Those results are little changed from six months ago, when 62 percent expressed little interest in using their smartphones to make a transaction. Samsung intends to compete with Google (NASDAQ: GOOG). The company announced Samsung Pay this week, which will launch later this year with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung Pay won't rely on the same NFC technology required for Apple Pay and Google Wallet. Instead, Galaxy S6 owners will be able to make payments anywhere credit cards are accepted. Google Wallet was the mobile wallet pioneer in the US in using NFC technology. However due to lack of partnerships and the telecom providers unwillingness to install the wallet as part of the new phones being sold, it did not see early mainstream adoption.
Shares of eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) were higher on Monday on news that its PayPal unit is buying Israeli cyber security company CyActive for $60 million. According to Reuters, the Israeli financial paper The Globes reported the news and says that the deal is expected to close in the near future. Given the growing public awareness of hackers and PayPal's emphasis on security-it also bought Israeli financial fraud firm FraudSciences in 2008-it makes sense that it is beefing up its security. Alibaba (NYSE: BABA) said it will start taking pre-orders on its B2C platform TMall on April 10 and will ship on April 24. And more importantly, Alibaba has customized its Alipay Wallet, the largest mobile payment app in China - Tencent's (OTC: TCEHY) ranks number 2 -, so Chinese consumers can make e-payments at physical stores using the watch, without taking out their mobile phones.
