Kurogo 1.8 was announced this morning at the first-annual Kurogo HigherEd User Conference, hosted at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Some of the world's top universities attended the event to share strategies and techniques, gain valuable training and network with other mobile experts. At the event, Modo Labs also announced Mobile Campus 2.1. Based on the Kurogo platform, Mobile Campus is a commercial offering that implements iOS and Android native apps as well as a number of powerful commercial modules that tightly integrate with widely used Learning Management, Student Information and Transit systems.
Kurogo 1.8 emphasizes extensibility, clean integration and exceptional user experience. The open source release contains the following new improvements:
- improved site management and setup
- simplified theming of UI elements
- enhanced support for new tablets
- support for role-based content
- desktop portal
- new data connector options, including authenticated connections and upgraded RSS parser
- many improvements in bundled modules
