Mobile Messenger Secures U.S. Patent on Initiating Mobile Communications Using a Trigger System

LOS ANGELES and BOSTON, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading Mobile Solutions provider, Mobile Messenger, today announced that its subsidiary, m-Qube, Inc., has been granted a United States patent awarding exclusive rights over a trigger system for verifying users and sending requested content to their mobile devices as "mobile terminated" messaging.

United States Patent No. 7,792,518, issued this month, is a continuation of previously issued United States Patent No. 7,403,788, claiming priority from a patent application filed in 2002.  In the new grant, the Patent Office issued claims directed at systems in which;

Claim 1 of the newly issued patent reads:

a trigger system (1) to receive, via a trigger device, a unique identification (ID) from a user of a mobile device (2), the unique ID being associated with a user and the mobile device, and to transmit the unique ID to an application server (3), wherein the unique ID is at least one of:  a number, data encoded on a magnetic stripe of a card, a bar code, a Radio Frequency identification (RFID) tag including data, a client application including unique data, and a biometric identifier unique across a plurality of users; and

an offer application system (4) coupled with the application server to generate an offer based in part on the mobile device identification number, and provide the offer to the application server for indication in the message sent to the mobile device;

and an offer entry system (5) coupled with the offer application system to receive and validate the offer when the offer is redeemed by a user;

wherein the application server is configured to retrieve a mobile device identification number associated with the unique ID, the mobile identification number identifying the mobile device, and to cause a message to be sent to the user via the mobile device.

Today, mobile marketers and consumer-facing businesses primarily engage their mobile users based on the type of "mobile terminated" messaging taught in the newly-issued patent.  Namely, marketers push customized content (ringtones, mobile alerts, news, mobile donation interactions, mobile payment transactions, boarding passes, coupons, mobile applications, etc.) to a user of a properly authenticated mobile device after interaction with a "trigger system."
