Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF) Continues to Support Japan Relief Efforts Through Text-To-Give Campaigns

A month after an earthquake and tsunami struck Japan on March 11, 2011, a series of earthquakes and the unfolding nuclear disaster in Japan continues to affect the country. The Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF) wants to remind potential donors that they can still support relief efforts in Japan through text-to-give donations.

Mobile giving has become one of the easiest ways to send monetary relief to those affected by tragedy. By texting a keyword to a designated short code via a mobile phone in response to a "call to action," a small $5 or $10 donation can be made to aid the disaster victims in Japan.

The MGF works with North American operators to enable a 100-percent pass-through of funds raised by all the mobile campaigns listed in this alert, so that your entire donation goes to a recipient charity. Mobile carriers remain strong supporters of disaster relief efforts as highlighted by a recent Verizon announcement that states Japan-relief donations from Verizon and its employees have totaled over $800,000. Every major wireless operator in the US and Canada have made an extraordinary effort to ensure that wireless networks are available to support those in need.
