Mobile Gaming Leader Cellufun Names Next Finalists in RE-NAME GAME
After First Round of Gamer Voting, Eight Names Move on to Next Round, Including: Wirebolt, Tylted, Groovoo, Bamterra, Zoynks, Uforiya, Ahsylum and Gahoots
NEW YORK, March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cellufun, a global leader in mobile casual and social games, announced today the winners of the first round of voting in its $10,000 RE-NAME GAME designed to find a new name for the company. The RE-NAME GAME not only will identify a new name for the company from its own gaming audience, but also offers incentives for gamers to introduce their friends to the Cellufun catalog of games.
With more than 17,000 names submitted by Cellufun gamers in the submission round, Cellufun has enjoyed a remarkable response to this gaming call to action. More than 7,000 dedicated gamers have helped Cellufun in its renaming endeavor, with each person eligible to win the $10,000 Grand Prize and to become a celebrity within the Cellufun gaming community.
Now that the submissions are winnowed to the eight finalists, Cellufun fans will vote for their favorite names in the second round of voting. This round began at 12:01a.m. on March 14 and ends March 18. In its initial hours voting has been brisk, promising a competitive edge to name selection.
Which names have made the cut? The top eight names are: Wirebolt, Tylted, Groovoo, Bamterra, Zoynks, Uforiya, Ahsylum and Gahoots. Who submitted these creative choices? Among the participants are gamers as diverse as an executive assistant and a law student.
Deneise Hyatt-Murad, an executive assistant/ministries administrator for a Unitarian Fellowship, submitted Groovoo. She likes that name because it's catchy and hip; perfect for a company like Cellufun. Deneise describes herself as an "artsy-craftsy" type who values friends and family and loves music talent-search shows. You might spot her visiting small towns or sunbathing at the town pool.
Richard Maes has the dual role of marketing assistant for Walmart and law student on the weekends, plus being the proud "father" of a beagle and an English bulldog mix. Richard submitted Zoynks, saying the name "evokes a genuinely fun feeling and would be a perfect name for a gaming company like Cellufun. Richard is married to a "gorgeous and loving wife" and the couple is expecting their first child in June.
"We are thrilled and grateful for the tremendous response from the mobile gaming community to the Cellufun RE-NAME GAME," said Lon Otremba, Cellufun CEO. "We received many outstanding submissions and now are one closer to our new name. Cellufun gamers are a loyal, dedicated group and we'd like to thank each and every person who has joined us to help rename our company."
