WASHINGTON, April 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Mobile Future announced former FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell as its Chief Public Policy Advisor, effective immediately. McDowell brings a wealth of telecommunications expertise to Mobile Future from his current position as a partner and co-leader of the global communications practice at Cooley LLP, where his portfolio includes telecommunications, media and technology matters. As an FCC commissioner, McDowell championed public policy that promoted consumer choice and fostered competition. McDowell's decades of leadership in the telecom, media and telecom sectors will bring strong leadership to the forward-thinking Mobile Future team.

McDowell was first appointed to a seat on the FCC in 2006 by President George W. Bush. When he was reappointed in 2009, he became the first Republican to be named to an independent agency by President Barack Obama. Prior to joining the FCC, he served as senior vice president of the Competitive Telecommunications Association, where his efforts focused on advocacy before Congress, the White House, and executive agencies. An outspoken advocate for internet freedom, McDowell served on the official US diplomatic delegations to the 2010 World Radio Communication Conference in Geneva and the 2012 World Conference on International Telecommunications in Dubai. He also is a veteran of several presidential, state and local political campaigns, and has served on numerous non-profit and community boards.
