Mobile Data Corp. Makes Application to Become a BlackBerry Alliance Application Development Partner
OTC:BB Symbol: MBYL
SAN JOSE, CA, May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Mobile Data Corp. (OTCBB: MBYL) is pleased to announce that it has submitted an application to Research in Motion (RIM) to become a BlackBerry Select Alliance Application Development Member. Mobile Data Corp. (MDC) is creating a variety of useful personal and business applications for BlackBerry(R) Smartphones and has developed its first software product, the MDC-Tracker for the BlackBerry Storm 2 (9550), a software layer that makes it easier to build and propagate GPS applications on the BlackBerry Platform.
MDC anticipates that its Application Program Interface will provide an easier development arena for outside developers to provide their applications to the BlackBerry Platform and therefore increase the number of applications available for RIM Smartphones. The BlackBerry Smartphone enjoys a 43% market share in North America but trails behind the iPhone in actual number of applications available to the platform.
MDC's strategy of developing applications that can be sold through the BlackBerry APP World(TM) storefront will allow Smartphone users to easily search for, purchase and download apps that let them do even more with their Smartphones.
As an Alliance partner, MDC will benefit from the availability of support for its marketing and sales initiatives by RIM. MDC expects to launch its first Smartphone application, the MDC-Tracker, in early June 2010. The MDC-Tracker is a software layer that will support developing a variety of location based services as an on-board application for not on BlackBerry Smartphones, but also any company providing web services on the internet.
