NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I., June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobile Beacon (http://www.mobilebeacon.org), one of the nation's leaders in providing low-cost 4G mobile broadband service is today announcing a new pilot grant program that donates a broadband security camera system to qualified schools or school districts in select areas of the country.

Grant recipients will receive up to four professional-grade security cameras operated over Mobile Beacon's 4G WiMAX service that will help enable 24 hour a day monitoring of selected areas to help deter unauthorized access.
"These cameras, although a non-traditional use of broadband access, still play a crucial role in a school's educational mission," said Katherine Messier, Director of Broadband Services for Mobile Beacon. "They help foster a safe learning environment for students, teachers and administrators by ensuring only authorized personnel will be present in the school building," Ms. Messier added.
This grant program is available in a total of 51 cities in 22 states including:

To apply for a grant an interested school or district should complete a grant application on Mobile Beacon's website and submit a cover letter detailing how this security system would be used.
Mobile Beacon continues to expand its service area, recently adding 38 cities in 18 states.
