MMR's Bruce Olson to Speak at The Quirks Event
Session will address the value of measuring research ROI
ROSWELL, Ga., Jan. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Bruce Olson, managing partner at MMR Research Associates, has been selected to present at The Quirks Event later this month in Orange County, Calif. Olson's presentation, titled "ROI – Why it Misses the Point" will discuss why trying to determine precise ROI is most often a waste of time for the research industry, and what researchers should be discussing instead.
An expert in the research industry, Olson has a very diverse background that includes expertise as both client and vendor, both sides of the research partnership which has given him an informed, sometimes provocative, point of view on the industry. "I've had the opportunity to see our industry in the U.S. and abroad, from all sides, and have seen the potential for research and, very clearly, seen its shortcomings," says Olson.
Olson believes that one of the shortcomings is the effort to measure ROI with precision in order to prove business value. He posits that measuring ROI is too subjective and misses the point. Instead, determining whether research adds value is deceptively simple, but requires a shift in some prevailing views/mindsets by the industry, and he will discuss his point of view during the Quirks California event, and again in New York at the East coast event scheduled for the end of February.
