NEW YORK, Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With the World Series nearly set to get underway, registration is now open for the 2017 Infield Chatter $1 Million "Sweep The Series Challenge." The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), its players and their mobile social community, Infield Chatter, have joined to offer fans a chance at $1,000,000 for correctly predicting the winners and score of each World Series game, as well as the World Series MVP.
Beginning today, fans may download Infield Chatter – the mobile social community built by the players for their fans – and register for the "Sweep The Series Challenge." The MLBPA is encouraging fans to get involved in the contest early, by going to the Apple App Store, Google Play or infieldchatter.com to install the app and follow the prompts to register for the contest. A maximum of one million fans may register for the "Sweep the Series Challenge."
"Sweep The Series Challenge" entrants can begin submitting their predictions of Series game scores and the Series MVP following the conclusion of the League Championships Series round on October 22 (or earlier). Entrants can make their selections and predictions until 3pm EDT/Noon PDT on October 24, prior to Game 1 of the World Series. Entrants taking advantage of the pre-registration period will be notified by e-mail once the World Series matchup is set and selections and predictions can be made.
"We're excited to give fans a chance to win $1 million through this challenge," said Curtis Granderson of the Los Angeles Dodgers. "We've had a blast interacting on Infield Chatter so far this season, and we are pumped to be able to bring fans this incredible challenge for the postseason. Anyone eligible to participate should get on Infield Chatter and register because taking home the $1 million prize would be life-changing!"
To be eligible for the 2017 Infield Chatter "Sweep The Series Challenge", entrants must be 13 years of age or older, be a resident of the U.S. and Canada, excluding Puerto Rico and Quebec, Canada, and anywhere else it is prohibited, be one of the first one million entrants to register, and submit their predictions by 3:00 p.m. ET on October 24, 2017.
As previously announced, as a part of the MLB players' constant drive to give back and help their local communities, the players will donate for each install of the Infield Chatter app until the completion of the World Series to help disaster relief efforts in the United States, the Caribbean and Mexico.
Infield Chatter was created at the request of the MLB players themselves. Debuting in April 2017, the mobile social community from the MLBPA brings fans closer than ever to the game itself through their favorite players, providing a unique avenue to interact and connect with the stars of the game. The first-of-its-kind platform seeks to become the dedicated mobile destination for players and their passionate fans, with more than 1,100 players already on board as registered users.
