Hart, a longtime leader and independent consultant in the financial services industry, joins two other distinguished senior executives who joined Mitek's advisory board in 2009:
- John E. Major, Chairman of the Board of the Broadcom Corporation, who has extensive career experience in nurturing and managing entrepreneurial technology companies.
- Bruce Hansen, Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of ID Analytics, a leader in technology-based consumer-risk management.
Together, the three leaders bring Mitek a wealth of business experience in areas that complement the company's strengths, said Mitek CEO James DeBello.
"Each in his own way lends Mitek a unique set of perspectives and experiences that add richness to our own skills," he said. "Pete Hart brings much leadership experience in financial services, John Major in various aspects of communications technology, especially wireless, and Bruce Hansen in the area of solving business challenges connected to consumer identity behavior and credit risk.
"We're looking to them to contribute insights and guidance that bootstrap us toward achieving our goals for both near-term and sustained growth," he said.
Mitek's flagship product is Mobile Deposit®, a patented, highly secure, accurate and easy-to-use mobile remote data capture (RDC) application that allows smartphone users to deposit checks from anywhere at any time simply by photographing their checks.
The application is distributed primarily by integrators of technology applications and solutions for the financial services industry and Mitek has signed partnership agreements for Mobile Deposit with all of the leading providers, making it the de facto "Gold Standard" in mobile RDC. Mitek is seeing an uptake from financial services institutions opting to deploy Mobile Deposit under their own brands as a customer convenience.
People with iPhones from Apple, Blackberry from RIM or devices on the Android or Windows Mobile platforms initiate Mobile Deposit sessions with financial institutions or payment organizations, key in their deposit amounts and then snap photos of both sides of the checks with the cameras of their devices. The Mitek software captures the check images and prepares them for transmission to the financial institution's receiving RDC solution.
Customer submissions of check images via Mobile Deposit are typically accepted successfully about 95 percent of the time on the first try.
