Mitchell & Ness Releases 1989-90 Larry Johnson UNLV NCAA Authentic Jersey and Shorts

LAS VEGAS and PHILADELPHIA, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday March 1^st, 2016 as part of their ongoing partnership with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Mitchell & Ness will release the 1989-90 Larry Johnson UNLV NCAA Authentic Jersey and Shorts. Retailing at $225 & $125 respectively, the release marks the first time the nostalgia brand has produced authentic NCAA basketball uniforms.

The jersey has a heavyweight dazzle body with a knit rib at the neck and armholes. Two-color screen printed front logo and numbers, with a one-color screen printed name on back. The shorts are also heavyweight dazzle with knit rib at the waistband. The Year ID is embroidered into the back of the waistband.

Larry Johnson passed up being a first round selection in the 1989 NBA Draft to play under legendary UNLV head coach Jerry Tarkanian. He averaged 20.6pts, 11.4rebs, 2.1asts, 1.6stls, and 1.4blks per game while shooting 62.4% from the field during the 1989-90 season. Johnson's accomplishments included being named a consensus first-team All-American and Big West Player of the Year.

UNLV reach the 1990 NCAA D1 National Championship Game against the Duke Blue Devils led by Stacey Augmon, Grey Anthony, & Johnson who tallied 22pts and 11rebs in the blowout win 103-73. This win set records for the highest score and greatest margin of victory for the NCAA Tournament Championship Game.
