Miss Texas Teen USA Karlie Hay Crowned Miss Teen USA 2016
LAS VEGAS, July 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Miss Texas Teen USA Karlie Hay was crowned Miss Teen USA 2016 at The Venetian® Las Vegas this evening. The show streamed live on www.missteenusa.com.
Karlie Hay is 18 years old and was born in Tomball, Texas. A recent graduate of Tomball High School, Karlie maintained her position on the honor roll while participating in numerous extracurricular activities that included varsity cheer captain as well as yearbook editor and photographer. As Miss Texas Teen USA, Karlie has become an advocate for families affected by alcoholism and drug abuse after experiencing the environment first hand. Through her advocacy, she hopes that every child grows up in a stable and loving home. Karlie hopes to enroll at Texas A&M University where she plans to pursue a career in business.
Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan and social media star Cody Johns co-hosted the annual event. American Idol XIV winner Nick Fradiani took the MISS TEEN USA® stage to perform during the evening. Judges Eva Marie, Keylee Sanders, Lu Parker, Hilary Cruz, and Savannah Keyes selected Karlie Hay from an incredible group of 51 contestants from 50 states and District of Columbia.
Additionally, for the first time ever, The Miss Universe Organization introduced active wear in place of swimsuits during the competition. Tapout, the official fitness and training partner of WWE, partnered with Goldsheep to provide two custom outfits that were designed to celebrate each contestant's home state.
Contestants competed in three categories: active wear, evening gown and interview, which culminated in Miss Teen USA 2015 Katherine Haik from Louisiana crowning Karlie Hay.
