Mirassou Winery Announces Winner In National 'I Do With Mirassou' Contest
Engaged couple to receive $10,000, trip to California, Plus custom wedding menu from Food Network Chef Aida Mollenkamp
MODESTO, Calif., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Mirassou Winery congratulates Tara Miller of Seattle, WA, the winner of the 6th annual "I Do with Mirassou" national contest. Hundreds logged on to Mirassou.com to read the finalists' entries and vote for their favorite couple.
"We are absolutely overjoyed! We worked extremely hard to gain awareness of our entry in the contest—we even made a collection of fun videos for our friends and family to share with their contacts," said Tara Miller. "We are so grateful and thrilled to win... and can't wait to have an amazing wedding."
Excerpt from Tara's winning entry:
When my fiance, Alexander, and I were unable to get down to Portland to celebrate Pasxa (Greek Easter) with his family, I decided to recreate it in Seattle. Together we made a Greek feast from family recipes and invited our friends over to share in this tradition. ...We celebrated...being able to continue the traditions of our parents and communities. I believe this beginning of our own traditions led to our engagement....
"Congratulations to Tara and Alexander. Celebrating with great friends, food and wine helps us enjoy life's most joyous occasions," said David Mirassou, sixth generation of America's oldest winemaking family.
The 2010 "I Do with Mirassou" contest kicked off on March 2 when couples were asked to describe a celebratory moment that led to their engagement. Five finalists were then put to an online vote, with Tara and Alexander receiving the most votes and winning $10,000, plus a trip to San Francisco to meet with wine expert David Mirassou and Food Network Chef Aida Mollenkamp, host of the Food Network show "Ask Aida," to plan their custom wedding menu, complete with wine pairings.
