LAS VEGAS, June 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- National medical flight charity, Miracle Flights, brought hope to countless families last month, performing 1,484 flights for children and adults in need of medical care far from home. A substantial increase from April 2016 (1,243 flights) and April 2015 (976 flights), the nonprofit strives to eliminate the barrier between sick children and the doctors who can best help them.
Highlights from April 2017 include: 408 North Carolina flights and 401 New York flights. Internationally, the charity aided patients in countries as far away as Germany, Israel and Serbia.
In an impressive history spanning over 30 years, the charity has performed 108,242 Miracle Flights and trekked over 60 million miles in their relentless fight to provide accessible healthcare for all.
"Whether these families need one flight or 100, we're going to be there to help," said Miracle Flights CEO, Mark E. Brown. "There is no limit to how often a child can fly."
"One of our patients, Amanda, has flown with us eight times so far for treatment of Intractable Epilepsy. She has made amazing progress that wouldn't have been possible from only one flight. It's imperative that Amanda continues to fly to Palo Alto, and we'll make sure that happens," he explained.
Additionally, Miracle Flights recently held its inaugural golf social, Swings for Wings, on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at TopGolf Las Vegas. Presented by Bank of Nevada, the evening featured an impressive silent auction, a tasty barbeque dinner, celebrity appearances and a stunning view of The Strip. Proceeds will be used to fund air travel for critically ill children in need of medical care far from home.
