LAS VEGAS, Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Local nonprofit, Miracle Flights, recently premiered their community-focused commercial featuring special patient, "Little Levi" Krystosek, and UNLV men's basketball head coach, Marvin Menzies.
Through the Nevada Broadcaster's Association, the commercial aims to make the Vegas community more aware of Miracle Flights' services and encourage those in need of medical transportation to reach out.
"We are the only home-grown national charity based here in Las Vegas," said Miracle Flights CEO, Mark E. Brown. "We have such strong ties to the community, and we really wanted to showcase this by incorporating UNLV into our message."
Since 1985, the nonprofit has coordinated over 100,000 flights so that seriously ill children may receive life-altering, life-saving medical care and second opinions from experts and specialists throughout the U.S. Miracle Flights will fly a patient as many times as necessary to reach his or her doctor.
Ten-year-old Levi Krystosek, who is featured in the commercial alongside Coach Menzies, was honored as Miracle Flights' 100,000th flyer this past June. Krystosek and his mother have flown numerous times for various medical appointments and procedures to treat Levi's rare form of dwarfism.
"There was no question that Levi would be the perfect spokesperson for our new commercial," said Brown. "His story—having only a few doctors in the whole country with expertise to treat his condition—resonates so well with the majority of our patients. Most of 'our kids' are battling rare diseases and conditions, as well, so the need to travel to reach specialized medical care is dire."
Brown would like to encourage the Las Vegas community to help spread Miracle Flights' message of hope.
"If you, or a loved one, are struggling to reach long-distance medical care, please reach out to us," Brown explained. "No child should be denied proper medical care because of distance."
