MIPCOM To Host The Second Annual Women in Global Entertainment Power Lunch
OPENING PANEL FEATURING NANCY DUBUC, ANNE SWEENEY, EMILY MORTIMER AND NOURA AL KAABI
PARIS, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MIPCOM, in partnership with A+E Networks' Lifetime, will bring together 150 of the most influential women executives in international television and entertainment for the second annual Women in Global Entertainment Power Lunch. This top-level invitation-only networking event will be held on Monday 7 October at the Majestic Hotel, as part of the MIPCOM 2013 content market, which runs 7-10 October in Cannes, France.
A+E Networks' President & CEO, Nancy Dubuc, will introduce an inspiring panel for a discussion which will focus on MIPCOM 2013's main theme: the new golden age of television. Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks and President of Disney/ABC Television Group, which includes the Walt Disney Company's global entertainment and TV news properties, will give opening remarks prior to joining the discussion.
Anne Sweeney oversees ABC's studios and TV network, as well as Disney Channels Worldwide comprising 107 international kid-driven channels. Under her leadership, Disney/ABC Television Group became the first media company to put television content on new platforms, leverage iTunes, introduce an ad-supported full episode player online, and deliver an iPad app. Among numerous accolades, Anne Sweeney has several times been named "Most Powerful Woman in Entertainment" by the Hollywood Reporter.
Emily Mortimer can currently be seen on HBO with her role as MacKenzie McHale in Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed series, "The Newsroom." Prior to this, Mortimer collaborated twice with Martin Scorsese, first opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in "Shutter Island" and then opposite Sacha Baron Cohen in "Hugo", which received 11 Academy Award® nominations. Additional credits include Woody Allen's "Match Point," Craig Gillespie's Oscar® nominated comedy, "Lars and the Real Girl," opposite Ryan Gosling, and Nicole Holofcener's critically-acclaimed "Lovely & Amazing," for which she won an Independent Spirit Award. Co-written with fellow actress Dolly Wells, "Doll & Em" is her first original comedy which will premiere on Sky Living in the UK in 2014 and is distributed by Sky Vision at MIPCOM.
