Minnesotans Urged to "Fill a Bag; Feed a Family" on Saturday, May 10 During Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
SAINT PAUL, Minn., May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Letter carriers are asking Minnesotans to fill a bag with non-perishable food items and leave it at their mailbox to help stamp out hunger on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, Stamp Out Hunger is the largest single-day food drive in the country. Here in Minnesota, letter carriers hope to collect 1.3 million pounds of food—that's enough food to provide one million meals for those in need.
Participating in Stamp Out Hunger is as easy as filling a bag with non-perishable food items and leaving it by your mailbox. More than 2,000 letter carriers representing Minneapolis Branch 9 and St. Paul Branch 28 will collect food donations on their regular seven-county metro residential routes from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2014, to benefit Second Harvest Heartland and the 1 in 10 Minnesotans who experience the stress of hunger each day.
Minnesotans can also make a financial donation to Second Harvest Heartland, and through May 14, 2014, TCF Bank® will double the gift, matching dollar for dollar up to a total of $25,000. Donate online at 2harvest.org/stampout.
Local sponsors of this year's Stamp Out Hunger food drive include National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 9, Minneapolis and Branch 28, St. Paul; Cub Foods; KARE 11; Minnesota Transport Services Association; TCF Bank; and WCCO Radio. To learn more, visit 2harvest.org/stampout.
