ST. PAUL, Minn,, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Minnesotans looking to find health insurance coverage for 2027 can now shop and compare plans at MNsure.org. In advance of the annual open enrollment period starting on November 1, Minnesota's official health insurance marketplace has launched new tools to help consumers choose the best plans for their families and their budget.
"Minnesotans looking for health insurance want a quality product that won't strain their family budget," said MNsure CEO Libby Caulum. "MNsure's new tools allow consumers to compare their options and costs to help them find a health plan that will protect their families in the coming year."
MNsure's online shop and compare tools allow consumers to view plans, premiums, and out-of-pocket costs among multiple insurance companies side by side. Enrollees can also manage their accounts online and update financial and family information with MNsure's eligibility and enrollment system.
MNsure is the only place where eligible Minnesotans can apply for and receive tax credits or cost savings on approved Minnesota health plans. Consumers can also find help over-the-phone through MNsure's call center staff or in-person with trained assisters, brokers, and navigators across the state.
"About half of MNsure enrollees will likely qualify for tax credits to lower the cost of monthly premiums, Caulum said. "Eligible Minnesota families can still save an average of $600 per month — more than $7,000 a year — on private health insurance plans through MNsure."
New and notable in 2027
- Plan choices: Minnesota carriers will offer 211 total plans, medical and dental combined, for plan year 2027.
- New carrier: Aspirus enters the market as a new medical carrier in northeast Minnesota.
- Plan choices: All Minnesotans have health plan choices from at least two insurance companies. Most Minnesotans have choices from three or more.
Also, all bronze plans sold through MNsure work with health savings accounts (HSAs). In the past, consumers had to enroll in a high-deductible health plan to use an HSA. Consumers can contribute pre-tax dollars into an HSA account, which lowers their tax burden, provides money for their deductible, and can lower their premiums.
